Information is below on roadworks in the Wellingborough area that the Town Council are currently aware of.

Castle Street
Roadworks are starting in your area soon
What’s happening, where and when?
What: We will be carrying out urgent and essential drainage repairs.
Where: Castle Street, Wellingborough
When: Friday 6 January 2023
How long: 1 working day – 09:00 to 14:00.
Traffic Management: The road will be closed to through traffic on Castle Street between the Midlands Road junction and past the Castle Road junction up to house number 41.
A diversion will be in place at all times as shown on the map.
The red line shows the road closure extents, and the blue line shows the diversion route.
Emergency Vehicles: Will be able to access Castle Street and then be able to follow the diversionary route.
Residents/Businesses: Access to Castle Street will be provided to the local residents, businesses and the school.
We will have Traffic Marshalls stationed at Midlands Road junction and past the Castle Road junction to 41 Castle Street, to direct local and School Traffic in and out safely during the road closure period.
Public Transport: Will not be affected.
Parking: To help us with our work, please move any vehicles parked within this section of the road before 08:00am. This is to enable our workforce to be able to carry out the works swiftly, without delay.
We also ask that you park leaving a minimum of 20 metres of any junction with Castle Street throughout duration of the works.
Advanced ‘No Parking’ warning signs will be placed in the area on 3 January 2023.

Cannon Street
Roadworks are starting in your area soon.
What’s happening, where and when?
What: Upgrading the traffic signal equipment, refreshing white lining and reinstating block paving.
Where: Cannon Street and Alma Street, Wellingborough
When: Monday 9 January to Tuesday 24 January
How long: 12 working days
Traffic Management: For the duration of the works, there will be a 24-hour road closure on Alma Street with a reversal of the ‘One-Way’ system with entry and exit from Park Road junction, in which vehicles MUST turn right, onto Park Road, when exiting Alma Street. There will also be a temporary ‘Give Way’ at the Alma Street/Park Road junction and Two-way temporary traffic lights on Cannon Street in between Regent Street and Chequers Lane. Parking bays on Cannon Street between these two roads will be suspended.

Hours: 08:00 to 16:30 (However, there is a 24/7 road closure, as advised).
Emergency Vehicles: Will be able to access Alma Street and will be able to follow the local diversionary route.
Residents/Businesses: We can confirm that all businesses will be open as usual and access/egress will be available to residents on Alma Street at all times.
Public Transport: The buses will not be affected in accessing the Church Street Interchange. However, they will be diverted around the works. Buses will have to follow the diversion or not stop on Cannon Street. Therefore, we advise that you leave more time for your journey.
