‘Sport Can Battle Racism – Growing the Game’ – Open Conversation
Tackling inequalities has always been at the heart of the work of Northamptonshire Sport. However, some events in recent years – the death of George Floyd and the Black Lives Matter movement; disgraceful behaviours towards the England football team penalty takers; the allegations and findings within Yorkshire Cricket – all highlight the challenges relating to racism and racial inequalities within sport and physical activity.
Never wishing to be an organisation that speaks a ‘good game’ without backing it up, Northamptonshire Sport is taking action to tackle this issue. One of these actions is an online ‘Open Conversation’ session being held on the 28th of March 2022 from 6.30 until 8.30 pm. Titled ‘Sport Can Battle Racism – Growing the Game’ the session aims to hear your views, stories, and opinions. They’ll then go on to discuss ways to work together to make sport and physical activity more appealing and inclusive for everyone in Northamptonshire.
Everyone is welcome, and they would very much like as many people as possible to take part. Whether you are a player, spectator, armchair enthusiast, volunteer, or even a ‘non-sporty’ member of the local community, we want to hear your views.
