Amazing achievements from everyone!
On Wednesday 10th May, the council hosted it’s first Citizen’s Award Ceremony at the Castle Theatre.
As part of the annual town meeting, the leader of the majority, Councillor Graham Lawman, spoke of the many achievements of the council in the last 12 months.
” We enjoyed another successful year, building on our start, repeating many of the entertainments and events and adding The Big Jubilee Lunch, School Holiday Activities and Guy Fawkes competition along with the popular return of The Beach in August. We also took over Holocaust Memorial Day and the Remembrance Day Parade, which had another superb turnout from the Town.”
For the main event, 5 awards were presented to well deserving citizens of Wellingborough.
Winners were:
- Father Ben Lewis of St Marks Church who won outstanding community achievement.
- Freddie & Georgine Harris for outstanding environment achievement.
- Adelle Toseland won an award for outstanding volunteer
- Joseph Lok was awarded the outstanding young person award
- Off the Streets NN was awarded for outstanding Voluntary and community sector organisation.
The Mayor presented them with their certificate, spoke about each one on their nomination and congratulated them all.
