National Highways

Highways are pleased to announce that the A45 Great Doddington Geotechnical Scheme will be complete and open for traffic on 23 December 2022.

Repairs to the embankment where there has been slippage have been completed, two on the eastbound carriageway and one on the westbound carriageway.

Additional work we completed included:

• resurfacing the carriageway
• replacing some of the existing draining system
• reinstating road marking and studs

From 23 December 2022 all temporary traffic management will be removed, and the 70mph national speed limit will be reinstated.

Our final remaining work will be completed under overnight carriageway closures from 8.00pm to 6.00am the following day.

Once again, a single lane closure will be in place on the opposite carriageway in order to provide a safe working space.

Please find our remaining programme below:

12, 13, 14, 15 December A45 eastbound carriageway – 8.00pm to 6.00am
16 December A45 westbound carriageway – 8.00pm to 6.00am

Thank you to everyone for your co-operation, patience, and understanding while we completed this essential maintenance work.

Until this time, those wishing to continue their journey, please follow the designated diversion routes:

Roadwork Diversion

Eastbound closure diversion route:
All traffic heading eastbound on the A45 is to be directed to travel eastbound on the A428 from Barnes Meadow Interchange and travel past Great Houghton and Yardley Hastings to Toll Bar Roundabout. Here, they will be directed to join the A509 and travel northbound past Wollaston to A45 J14 (Wellingborough) where traffic may rejoin the A45.

Westbound closure diversion route:
All traffic heading westbound on the A45 is to be directed to travel southbound on the A509 at junction 14 (Wellingborough) and travel past Wollaston to the Toll Bar Roundabout. Here, join the A428 travelling westbound beyond Yardley Hastings and Great Houghton, until reaching the Barnes Meadow Interchange where traffic may re-join the A45.
